Seiko has announced two new Premium Seiko Presage releases, which are set to arrive in June 2023. The pair continue the Sharp Edged Series, which brings a modern sharpness and streamlined design to the Japanese watchmaker’s creations.
These Seiko Presage watches blend artistry with an impressive technical discipline, boasting a new ‘three-days’ Calibre 6R5J and a stunning dial design. Both watches hold a 72-hour power reserve, and a brilliant open-heart design so you can appreciate the new automatic movement.
The Seiko Presage ‘Three-Days’ Sharp Edged Series is a release to get excited about.
Overview:
Seiko Presage 'Three-days' Dial
Seiko suggests that these models will retail for $1950 (AUD), indicating that these are some very nice Seiko watches.
The release comes with white and blue dial editions, each continuing the trend of the Sharp Edged Series’ vibrant texture designs. These expertly crafted patterns are truly eye-catching, taking inspiration from the Japanese ‘asanoha’, or hemp leaf.
Seiko has given the white dial SPB415 the name, Shironeri, and the blue dial SPB417 the name Aitetsu.
A standout feature of these new releases is the open heart, which is covered with a thematic asanoha hemp leaf pattern. The effect is stunning, and it completes this dial with seemingly endless visual intrigue.
Both automatic watches also include a 24-hour subdial at the 6 o’clock position, adding some extra functionality.
Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series 'Three-days' Specifications
Firstly, this pair of luxury Seiko watches feature a 40.2mm diameter and 13.5mm thickness.
They also feature some impressive design features, including its new 'three-days' movement. You can, of course, view this 72-hour reserve automatic calibre through the watch’s sapphire case back and open heart.
The dial is encased in a double-dome sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, which promises excellent readability and toughness. The curved crystal is a favourite addition to the streamlined and angular Sharp Edged series, and typical of the dressy Presage line.
For added durability, the stainless steel case has been awarded a super-hard coating, while the watch claims a 100-metre water resistance.
As the Shironeri and Aitetsu are modern Seiko timepieces, they also include a 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance.
The Verdict
With both models coming in June to Grahams, you’ve got plenty of time to consider this release. From an aesthetic level, the ‘Three-days’ Seiko watches are stunning. The Sharp Edged series dial looks excellent in white and blue colours and paired with this fancy open heart, is one of the best Seiko has to offer.
From a functional standpoint, you are getting a brand-new automatic movement with impressive specs, and a tough watch that will easily deal with daily wear.
