Lockets have been a popular piece of jewellery for centuries, and for good reason. These small, hinged compartments offer a unique way to keep a special memory or person close to your heart. Whether you're looking to purchase a locket for yourself or as a gift, there are many options available to suit any style or budget.
The history of lockets dates back to the 16th century, where they were primarily worn by women as a way to keep a loved one's portrait or lock of hair close. These early lockets were often made of gold or silver and were intricately decorated with engravings and precious stones. As time went on, the popularity of lockets spread, and they became a popular accessory for both men and women.
Today, lockets come in a wide variety of materials, including gold lockets, silver, and rose gold. They can also be found in many different shapes and sizes, from delicate, dainty designs to bold, statement pieces. Some popular styles include antique-inspired lockets, heart-shaped lockets, and locket pendants that can be worn on a chain.
One of the most popular uses for lockets is to hold a photograph of a loved one. This can be a great way to keep a special memory close, whether it's a picture of a loved one who has passed away or a snapshot of a cherished moment. Lockets can also be used to hold other small mementoes, such as a lock of hair or a piece of fabric from a special outfit.
